The one aspect which is important in teaching is to motivate your students. Students who are not motivated will not learn and study effectively. They don’t have an aspiration to learn something new and don’t really want to participate in activities. Without motivation students can become disruptive and inactive. They may not be interested in this subject and may think that it is a waste of time. As a teacher you should have your own methods to make your lessons interesting and more effective. For motivating students teachers should create strategies that will work for them and will help in teaching progress. In this work I would like to share with my strategies that keep students motivated. The first strategy is to be enthusiastic, and your students will be interested in your lessons. The mission for teachers is to encourage students. Making your lessons fun and interesting will help you to get their attention. When you are energetic and spirited, your students will focus on you and it makes their learning more effective. The second strategy is giving feedback for your students. You should praise them for their hard work and efforts. It will tell them that they have an ability to improve their learning areas. Praises such as “You are such a good reader,” or “You are getting better in math,” gives them confidence and motivation. The third strategy is to build a rapport between you and your students. If you want to motivate your students, you should know each student individually: student’s interests, goals and hobbies. It will help you in finding your own approach for teaching. In that case, you can create a questionnaire where students will answer the questions such as “What is your hobby?” or “What are your goals for the future?” The fourth strategy is to write motivational quotes on the board and change them every lesson. In general, when people read motivational quotes, there is a desire awakes in people, and it pushes them to achieve their goals. John Maxwell said, “Successful and unsuccessful people do not vary greatly in their abilities. They vary in their desires to reach their potential.” And he is right; everything in this life depends only on us. We have to motivate ourselves and help others. As teachers, we have to convey that message to the students, and help with directing them to the right path. The fifth strategy is to have equal respect between you and all your students. If your students respect you, the more information they will get from you because their attention will be focused only on you. Show your students that you respect them equally. Also show them that you don’t have ‘favorites’ and you are being fair with everyone. The last strategy is to be inspirational. As the students see you as an example, they start believing that they really need to be educated and become successful. For teachers the main point is to give students a clear vision of the learning goals and what you expect from them. If the students are motivated now, it will give them a good benefit in the future, and they should understand it. Thomas A. Edison said, “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”
